    General Statement of Duties: The Advocacy & Organizing Coordinator at YWCA Columbus supports advocacy on racial and gender equity, poverty, housing, education, community safety, and health. This role involves engaging coalitions and community partners, mobilizing volunteers, and conducting policy research aligned with YWCA Columbus' advocacy agenda, with a focus on effective communication.

    Location/Travel: Hybrid/May require travel

    Schedule: Monday–Friday/May require shifted schedules, evening and weekend hours

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Build relationships with statewide associations, partners, coalitions, policymakers, and officials to support YWCA Columbus’s public policy priorities.

    • Grow grassroots advocacy through a targeted engagement plan, including EveryAction, volunteer activities (training, phone banking, letter writing, canvassing, etc.).

    • Support civic and voter engagement with external partners, focusing on YWCA residents, program participants, and alumni.

    • Conduct policy analysis and research on mission-aligned issues.

    • Write and publish advocacy materials such as briefs, reports, testimony, and newsletters.

    • Organize advocacy-related events and meetings, and lead trainings and workshops for staff, stakeholders, and community members.

    • Lead the Resident Advocacy Council, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and presenting issues.

    • Analyze data to evaluate advocacy efforts and provide timely program updates to the Directors.

    Performance Expectations:

    • Demonstrate commitment to the values of justice, equity, liberation, and empowerment; and competence regarding racial and gender issues, systemic oppression, and intersectionality.

    • Proficient in analyzing and compiling complex data to inform strategic planning and reporting.

    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, adept at representing the organization to diverse stakeholders through public speaking, facilitation, and leading training sessions and workshops.

    • Skilled in building and nurturing relationships and partnerships with organizations, coalitions, and community groups.

    • Proficient in using digital organizing tools such as CRMs, data tools, email platforms, relational organizing tools, volunteer management systems, social media, and Zoom.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in political science, social science, public policy and management, or a related field; or equivalent, relevant professional experience.

    • Experience: Experience in community organizing methodologies and movement building. Extensive experience in applying intersectional and critical perspectives to policy analysis and implementation

    • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Comprehensive understanding of racial and gender equity issues, especially at the intersection of LGBTQ+ rights, K-12 and higher education equity, public safety, reproductive justice, and civic engagement.

    Pay: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
