The passage of SB 104, also known as the ‘anti-trans bathroom bill,' is a disgraceful act by our statehouse elected officials and yet another attack on the LGBTQIA community. SB 104 prohibits transgender and gender-diverse individuals in Ohio from using restrooms and facilities that align with their identities in schools and universities, affecting both youth and adults. This bill applies to bathrooms and overnight accommodations in all school-related facilities, including stadiums and sanctioned field trips. 

Codifying SB 104 opens the door wider for the policing of gender expression and will only worsen instances of discrimination and sexual assault, per research conducted by Equality Ohio. As a before- and after-school provider with a responsibility to the well-being of Ohio’s youth, we vehemently oppose this dangerous legislation.
